Hike #40 Resevoir Hill on Fort Huachuca
(August 11th 2022)
This was an impromtu hike that took advantage of some extra time I had after work while waiting on the fort during my son’s cross country practice. I wasn’t sure exactly where this trail was going to take me. But the first choice was deciding whether to take the forks on lower elevation but simpler paths...
I went with the path to the far right w the steepest elevation toward the highest viewpoint.
I know you’re not going to believe this, but guess what I saw along the way?
Another RATTLER!! Obviously hit by a car. Not there on the way up, but spotted on the way down
Mohave?
Of course when I got up to the top, I was rewarded with some great views.
Sometimes coming down is almost more challending than going up. Those lose rocks are “fun” to run down on.
Outrunning the clock and the rain, I'm very proud of my accomplishments after work!
This was not a long hike, but oh was it an intense hike. A significant elevation gain, 2.8 miles, timed at 1:05 hrs with an average heart rate at 149. I think we can safely call this one a good workout.
This is part of my 52 hikes in 2022 series. If you’d like to see where else I’ve been, this post lists them all: https://jotnhill.substack.com/p/kellys-52-hikes-part-1
