Hike #22 Miller's Peak From Montezuma Pass
Throwback Thursday. This hike took place on June 20th 2022. But since it was my longest hike of the year (to that point) at 10.6 miles, and I took a few nice pictures. I wanted to share in a separate post here on the newsletter.
I met up with 3 other people from a local Facebook group. This was a new experience for me, as I almost always hike alone. We were out there for about six and a half hours, and it was a perfect day for it.
There wasn’t much shade during the first part of this hike.
When we could first see the peak we were aiming for ... those are really fun moments when you finally pop over the ridge with all that vegitation and super tall pines. I love it... It is so RAD~
My group was often in a hurry to get up the mountain, but I like to stop and get a few pictures along the way.
It’s funny though, on the way back down, the situation was almost reversed, as I was leading the pack the whole way. For me, coming back down doesn’t take so much time, since I’ve already seen these views … and besides, there’s a bottle with ice water in my SUV when I get back to the parking lot!
I’m not sure how often (if ever) I’ll do these group hikes in the future. But for this day, it was a good experience.
